Golden Gate High School, Collier
County
Compressed permitting timeframes were required to meet Collier County
Public Schools construction schedule for Golden Gate High School.
Passarella & Associates was successful in securing a “No Permit
Required” determination from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
preventing potential lengthy delays in the Army Corps permitting
process.
Passarella & Associates obtained a gopher tortoise incidental-take
permit from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. In
addition, a sign-off from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for
red-cockaded woodpeckers was obtained. These two steps allowed the
project to move forward. Other services included wetland delineations,
vegetation mapping, preparation of South Florida Water Management
District and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit applications, agency
negotiations and gopher tortoise relocation. Construction of the
school, which now serves more than 1,500 students, began on time.
